CHC patients get blankets from volunteers, Rotary Club

All these were donated by the CHC Volunteer Association and the Rotary Club International.

The $5,745 worth of blankets bought in the U.S. were unloaded from the container van at the warehouse of CTSI Logistic which took care of the more than half of the shipment cost.

CHC Volunteers president Maggie Wonenberg said the shipment cost was $949.32 of which CTSI donated  $500, so they only had to pay $449.32.

Wonenberg was accompanied by association board members Amparo Tenorio, Rita Tenorio, Carmen Reyes and Kazumi Imai to pick the boxes of blankets in the CTSI receiving area.

For some time now, according to Wonenberg, the hospital has been in need of blankets and gowns for patients.

Amparo Tenorio said there is a shortage of blankets and gowns at CHC because some patients bring them home.

Fortunately, she said, the CHC Volunteers have been receiving donations from various sectors of the community including Tan Holdings, the Pacific Islands Club and the Rotary Club.

At 1:30 p.m., it was the Saipan Rotary Club’s turn to donate baby blankets.

Wonenberg distributed the first two of the blankets to the babies born last Wednesday at CHC — Jared Torres Reyes and Austin Trasmano.
