“We have a good vaccination coverage rate among the youth. Our issue is with adults, especially immigrants who come from countries where they did not need to be vaccinated,” she added.
For the youth, Travis said the CHCC immunization program has successfully increased the coverage by partnering with schools.
“We are pretty well covered, especially with measles, which can have deadly consequences for young people,” Travis said, adding that the immunization of more than 90 percent of the youth has been updated.
In contrast, about 50 percent of the adults in the CNMI have updated their vaccination, she said.
The immunization program is now conducting an outreach in the community. “We have some vaccinations available, especially for the flu,” Travis said, adding that
vaccines are also available at the CHCC outpatient pharmacy.
The pharmacy offers walk-in adult vaccinations — they have all the vaccinations you need, Travis said. But the pharmacy doesn’t administer immunizations for children, she added.
The pharmacy administers immunization shots for adults from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays; and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
