When public schools reopen on Sept. 8, they will provide 100% remote learning.
But since Gov. Ralph DLG Torres announced on Aug. 21 the reimposition of stricter Covid-19 safety rules, “there’s a lot of schools that have stepped up to the plate and made sure that everyone is safe,” Muna said.
She added that the reopening of schools will depend on their administrators and the safety measures they have implemented.
For its part, CHCC is working with the task force to engage with parents and discuss the safety of their children when schools reopen, Muna said. “We will make sure that protocols are implemented so that the students are protected.”
During a press briefing on KKMP radio Tuesday morning, the governor commended some schools that went beyond what is required of them.
He specifically mentioned Saipan Community School, which he visited recently.
“If there used to be 24 occupants in a room, now it’s going to be 12 or 10 only,” he said, adding that SCS is also diligently following the six-foot distance.
“There is also a hand sanitation station for each classroom,” the governor said.
“I am sure these measures are also being implemented in most private schools,” he said. “They have done a great job of making sure that they comply with the protocols before they reopen.”
