Church, groups collect donations for Haiti

Father Celso Magbanua, who celebrated Mass on Sunday, also asked community members to pray for the Haiti victims and their families.

Members of the United Workers Movement, for their part, conducted a relief drive in San Jose on Saturday.

The group raised a total of $450, according to the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

The chapter’s executive director, John Hirsh, said they are also working with phone companies to collect donations.

Coin donation cans are available at IT&E outlets.

Hirsh is encouraging those who want to donate to go online at www.nmiredcross.org.

For more information, call the local chapter at 234-3459.
