Cing suspends campaign

Cing said he had already packed up his things on Tinian and was about to go to Saipan to attend last night’s Saipan Chamber of Commerce delegate forum when he saw Taotao Tano’s letter to the Variety editor.

In his letter, Taotao Tano president Greg Cruz said DPL Secretary John Del Rosario issued a quit claim deed for a 1.5-hectare  agricultural homestead lot to former Labor and Immigration Secretary Raynaldo  M. Cing, who is Del Rosario’s brother-in-law.

Former Senator Cing said he cancelled his trip to Saipan and his appearance at the chamber forum because “how can I face the people when I have a big problem in my own backyard?”

He said he cannot go on with his campaign until the issue involving his brother is cleared.

The former senator said he will ask the Senate to “get into the bottom of this and expedite whatever action is needed to be taken.”

In his 12 years in the Senate, he added, “he never tolerated these things.”

“I cannot tell the people about their problems when I also have my own problem,” he said.

The former senator said he “felt so bad” upon seeing Cruz’s letter to the editor on Tuesday morning.

He said he called his brother right away and asked him about Cruz’s allegation.

According to the former senator, he does not care about any explanation from his brother, and all he wants is for the Senate to get to the bottom of the allegation.
