CNMI DOL participates in successful W-2 CM workshop in preparation for tax season

(CNMI DOL) — On Dec. 17, 2024, the Division of Tax and Revenue hosted a comprehensive W-2 CM workshop at the multi-purpose center, bringing together employers, tax professionals, and community members to discuss critical tax laws and filing requirements. The event provided valuable insights into the completion of W-2 CM forms and offered a unique opportunity for attendees to engage directly with DRT and CNMI Department of Labor representatives.

The workshop featured informative sessions led by DRT experts, who covered essential topics including the latest tax laws, filing requirements, and best practices for completing W-2 CM forms. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions and address their concerns, fostering an interactive environment that promoted understanding and compliance.

In addition to the DRT’s presentation, representatives from CNMI DOL provided crucial information regarding Box C and Box F of the W-2 form. CNMI DOL staff clarified common misconceptions and ensured that employers are well-equipped to accurately report employee information, both on employee tax forms and in their quarterly Census of Employment submissions to the CNMI DOL.

The department also re-introduced its updated website, demonstrating how to navigate its features effectively. Participants learned about the resources available online, including the Census of Employment and Workforce Plan forms, which are  essential for understanding workforce dynamics and planning for future employment needs.

DRT and CNMI DOL are dedicated to supporting employers and employees alike, ensuring that everyone has access to the information they need to succeed. The workshop concluded with a networking session, allowing attendees to connect with one another and share best practices.
