GORDON Marciano, Chamolinian Cultural Village Inc. chairman and Pacific Development Inc. managing director, said the CNMI Domatsuri team was recognized for 21 years of cultural exchange at the dance festival in Nagoya, Japan on Aug. 23-25.
“Our CNMI Domatsuri performed non-stop at the festival for six hours, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.,” Marciano added.
The CNMI dancers consisted of Simiyan Marianas members and Kukkun warriors, who were joined by 15 other dancers from Tokyo’s Famagu’on i Tano yan Tasi group.
The annual festival in Nagoya features the performances of dance groups from Japan and around the world.
This year, the CNMI Domatsuri team was again featured in Chunichi Shimbun newspaper.
In 2020, the CNMI team received awards from the festival organizers.
For supporting the CNMI Domatsuri dancers, Marciano thanked the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Saipan Mayor’s Office, the Liberation Queen and her court, KKMP radio, PDI, the Carolinian Affairs Office, the Indigenous Affairs Office, and Hybrid 670.
