Collision on Middle Road sends 4 to hospital

FOUR individuals were brought to the hospital after a white Ford E350 bus collided with an orange Mitsubishi Outlander on Middle Road in Puerto Rico on Wednesday.

Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop, the acting Department of Public Safety public information officer, said that on July 3, 2024, at 12:41 noon, an auto accident was reported on Chalan Pale Arnold or Middle Road in Puerto Rico, just north of the Sitong Auto Shop.

He said preliminary investigation indicated that, prior to the incident, a white Ford E350 bus was traveling south on the outer southbound lane.

“The bus operator saw an orange Mitsubishi Outlander parked on the southbound shoulder [before] it entered the highway [and] got closer, causing a collision,” Manacop said.

“The passenger bus had nine occupants. The driver and front passenger complained of pain and were transported to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation for further treatment. The others did not sustain injuries,” he said.

The driver and the front passenger of the Outlander were injured and transported to CHCC, Manacop said.

“Both are in stable condition. A rear passenger in the Outlander did not sustain any injury. There were no fatalities in this incident,” he added.

The Outlander damaged by a collision swerves uncontrollably toward the fence of the U.S. Army Reserve Center on Middle Road in Puerto Rico, Wednesday.
