The past Liberation queens and princesses will join the parade while Tinian and Rota will showcase their islands’ history on their floats.
Various vehicle models will also be in display, said Liberation Day Committee Chairman Jonas Barcinas, Hopwood Junior High School principal.
During a meeting on Monday night at the mayor’s office, Barcinas said the Public School System is very supportive of the Liberation Day activities.
PSS is planning to present a float that will highlight the mascots of its 20 schools.
The prizes for the float competition are $2,500 for first place; $2,000 second place; and $1,500, third place.
There will nightly entertainment featuring new artists and performers.
Once again, the Garapan Fishing Base will be the Liberation Day activity area.
The committee also agreed to provide space for the Sabalu farmers so they can continue their Tuesday market in the area during the month-long Liberation Day festivities.
However, they have to discuss yet with the Sabalu farmers the amount of the fee.
Initially, the committee agreed to charge $200 from each Sabalu stall.
For regular concessionaires, the committee will charge each booth $600 or $1,000, depending on the items they sell.
The committee has yet to finalize the fireworks display.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating Youths, Our Leaders of Tomorrow.”
