THE Graffiti Abatement Committee,
one of the teams of Beautify CNMI, is collecting information and feedback regarding graffiti on island.
Laurie Peterka is co-chairing the committee with Tyler Yoshimoto, a senior student at Saipan International
School.
“Tyler and I are asking the community if they think we have a problem with graffiti,”
she said.
One of the projects they’re considering is “Graffiti Busters,” which will be implemented with the neighborhood watch teams.
Another related project involves the participation of schools.
“We are meeting with the Coalition
of Private Schools on Saipan and we are asking them if they are willing to create graffiti clubs. This club will teach kids at an elementary school level what graffiti is and what it does to the community. We want to create awareness among the kids,” Peterka said.
