Community invited to art gallery

She said her artwork might not be exhibited at the upcoming Flame Tree Arts Festival but community members can always visit the art gallery.

Chen said she wanted to display her work during the festival but the environment is not good for the paintings.

Last month, the art gallery opened  its 4th Truth Compassion Forbearance International Art Exhibition.

Chen said the gallery is “good for learning and educating local and aspiring artists.”

The gallery, which houses masterpieces of international artists, has a new feature — “Shock,” her winning piece in the 2009 Chinese International Figure Painting Competition in New York.

The Phoenix Art Gallery is open from 12 noon to 9 p.m. every day until the end of May.

Chen,  who is now based in Canada, also teaches basic painting to CNMI students whenever she’s on island.
