Brilliant Star School principal Richard Sikkel yesterday said they are inviting the community to come and buy the beautiful and unique works of arts and other items, and get an early start in buying gifts for the holidays.
Sikkel said there will be performances throughout the day involving cultural groups, as well as a raffle draw with prizes donated by local businesses.
Sikkel said in the past years, shoppers have commented on the convenience and comfort of finding such a variety of island gifts in a single place ahead of the holidays.
“The Holiday Bazaar has been likened to a mini-Flame Tree Arts Festival with air-conditioning,” he said, smiling.
Art shoppers can expect to find photographs by Jack Hardy, the artwork of Joe Weaver and Greg Elliott, items from Monika’s Gallery, the handmade jewelry of Kim Peterson and Jill Vanderkin, the island jams of DC Revilla, shell carvings by Martin Castro, beautiful items from Star Jewelry, the island crafts and jewelry of Tokie Mojica, and much more.
Sikkel said the event will include a crafts area for children.
This means that kids can make their favorite crafts while their parents shop around.
Performers include DoReMi School of Music, Saipan Southern Manta Ray Band, Little Hands, Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts, Keynotes School of Music, Nate van Ee and Angel’s International School of Dance.
Sikkel said lucky ticket holders can bring home attractive prizes such as beautiful handmade jewelry, local artwork, Marianas coffee, gift certificates from Shenanigans, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Marianas Resort & Spa, Pacific Islands Club and local stores. Drawings will be held hourly.
“We look forward to once again hosting this event at the multi-purpose center, and we expect a vibrant crowd from our school community and island-wide because this event provides quality shopping and enthusiastic holiday spirit,” Sikkel said.
Bento box lunches, snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase.
Carol Auther, one of the event organizers, said they still have a couple of tables available for interested artists or vendors.
“We’re looking forward to another year of showcasing our island’s arts, crafts and gifts, and look forward to welcome the community which opens the holiday season on Saipan,” Auther said. Interested vendors may contact the school at 323-STAR (323-7827).
