Aguon and another volunteer Gerry Agulto cleaned up the area from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

“Since there are no government workers due to austerity and the lockdown, we continue to volunteer to serve the community,” Aguon said, adding they just want to maintain the cleanliness of the island.

At the Mount Tapochao observation deck, they collected only half a bag of trash, he said, adding that they also met one Japanese tourist who thanked them for working on Sunday.

The Mount Tapochao observation deck is part of Aguon’s regular community cleanup sites, which include the Sugar Dock Beach, the Chalan Kanoa cemetery, and some areas on Beach Road.
