Consulate, Filipino community leaders to meet with USCIS on CW rule

Consul General Medardo Macaraig said the meeting will start at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Filipino Workers Resource Center, on the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza.

Due to limited space, Macaraig said they can only accommodate a few Filipino community leaders.

However, he said they  also requested the building management to allow them to also use the lobby for the meeting which will be video recorded.

Digital Motion was asked to install a TV set in the lobby  so other interested members of the Filipino community can watch the meeting, Macaraig added.

He said speakers will also be set up in the area so people can hear the discussions.

Consulate staff will also collect questions from those in the lobby, he added.

“The consulate intends to show this to our kababayans on Tinian and Rota.  On Saipan, the video could also be played at the consulate, or elsewhere as arranged, if there are interested groups,” Macaraig said.

After the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through USCIS announced the CW rule on Sept. 7, the consulate posted a copy of its Filipino translation at its office.

Macaraig said they continue to receive several queries from the Filipino community concerning the rule which has been posted on www.philippinessaipan.org.
