He described Mayor Donald G. Flores’ action as “very disturbing.”
Camacho said he was informed that Flores requested the Public School System to transfer the tractor to the mayor’s office for its beautification program.
It was PSS that acquired the tractor for the agricultural program of Marianas High School and later transferred it to the agriculture division.
Many farmers are using the tractor, Camacho said. “And for the mayor to get that tractor will only help kill the agricultural industry,” he added.
Camacho said the municipal council helped create the Farmers Support Group to boost local agriculture.
“I hope the mayor will reconsider his decision,” he said.
Flores, in a separate interview, said he did ask PSS if his office could use the tractor.
It is PSS that will make the decision, he added.
He noted that the mayor’s office is collaborating with PSS in the beautification program of schools so that the tractor can be used for its original purpose.
