Anefal said the extension is necessary in order for the administering agencies, departments and recipient communities to complete the projects in the next fiscal year.He requested Urasemal to support the extension.
Following are the requested projects, each summarized with a fund balance, and a brief justification:
• Asor Typhoon Shelter project has an appropriation of $15,000 with a remaining balance of $2,192 that is still needed for materials for project completion.
• Gagil-Tomil Water System project has an appropriation of $35,000 for purchasing two heavy equipment needed for the water system and replacement parts.
• OI Canoe Sail Materials project has an appropriation of $10,000 for award to an off-island vendor. Remaining balance will be used to pay for import tax and freight to the neighboring islands.
• Falalus Seawall project has an appropriation of $10,000 for award to local vendor. Due to the uncertain fieldtrip ship’s schedule, the materials may not reach the project site on time and thus funds need to be extended so the project can be completed as planned.
• Gargey Village Road Project has an appropriation of $40,000 for work on access road and water. Remaining fund is being requested for extension so the work on the water system can start and complete in the ensuing fiscal year.
• Dugor Basketball Court project has an appropriation of $40,000. The basketball court is completed, but the remaining fund of $12,121 is still needed to purchase sports equipment.
• Tegegin Village Men’s House project has an appropriation of $15,250. Work scope is still being worked on for RFP.
• Tegegin Power Extension project has an appropriation of $50,000. This project is completed, but the remaining balance of $15,251 was re-appropriated to supplement the amount appropriated for the Tegegin Village Men’s House project.
