Basa, 37, has various cases for criminal misdemeanor and criminal felony, from being an escaped defendant to burglary, and sexual abuse of a child, records showed.
Wiseman set Basa’s arraignment for Dec. 7 and remanded him to custody of the Department of Corrections.
Basa was arrested Sunday night after an affidavit of probable cause was filed by Detective Peter A. Aldan.
Investigation by Aldan showed that Basa arrived at his residence after drinking alcoholic beverages at his aunt’s residence.
Basa then had an argument with his wife who called her mother on the phone and asked her to pick her up from their residence.
Basa later arrived on his vehicle, together with Jerome Ada who was driving another vehicle, police said.
Basa told her mother-in-law not to interfere and went inside the house looking for his wife, police added.
They said when his mother-in-law told him that she would call the police, Basa went to his vehicle and took out a big knife.
Police said the mother-in-law screamed and tried to ran away as Basa was about to stab her.
When his father-in-law intervened, Basa then tried to stab him.
Basa and his father-in-law fought over the big knife, and they fell on the floor with the defendant on top of his father-in-law who managed to keep himself from being stabbed, police said.
Police said the father-in-law broke free and ran toward the house, but Basa chased him and stabbed the door several times.
Basa tried to push himself toward the door and window, police said.
Basa and Ada separately escaped on board their vehicles after the victims called 911.
