“This is going to be the second summit. There will be follow up reports on what has been accomplished since the first one,” he added.
He said the members of the agricultural summit committee have been trying to put together a directory of all the farmers and ranchers in the CNMI.
During the summit, “there will be guest speakers from managers and owners of local stores and supermarkets. There will also be invited guests from Guam,” Dela Cruz said
The problems of farmers and ranchers will be discussed.
“We need to train our local farmers on sorting, grading, packaging, labeling and things like that. This will be some of the concerns that will be addressed,” Dela Cruz said.
Also to be tackled is the bigger market for local produce that is expected to be created by the military buildup on Guam.
“Even though there is already a market on Guam for CNMI products it will soon be a lot bigger than what it is today,” Dela Cruz said.
