Police are still looking for Martin’s companion.
Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja appointed Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke to represent Martin.
Assistant Attorney General Matthew Meyer is prosecuting the case and will file an information on Friday.
The judge said if Martin will post bail, he must be present in court whenever required, obey all CNMI laws, surrender his passport, not leave Saipan, stay away from seaport or airport, not consume any alcoholic beverage, keep all appointments with his attorney, and not have direct or indirect contact with the victims.
Naraja set Martin’s arraignment for Nov. 9, while a preliminary hearing will be held on Nov. 2.
Martin was arrested after witnesses and police chased him and his still unidentified companion shortly after they robbed Pink Pawnshop last Friday.
Police said they recovered the stolen money from Martin after his arrest.
Two witnesses called 911 after they saw Martin and his companion enter the pawnshop, while wearing masks and armed with a machete, a sledgehammer, and a crow bar.
Two pawnshop employees were hurt after they were assaulted by the suspects, police said.
