THE Commonwealth Ports Authority is replacing its old and rusty baggage carts with new ones at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport.
In an interview on Thursday, CPA Executive Director Leo B. Tudela said one of the old baggage carts had injured a passenger’s finger, and this prompted him to purchase 90 brand new baggage carts.
He said he found out that most of the old carts used by passengers were defective and no longer safe to use. An airline company manager, who requested anonymity, said some passengers got their clothes stuck in the cart.
Tudela said the new baggage carts came from London, and are made of aluminum. They don’t rust, he added.
Airport Manager Frank Duenas agreed that it was time to buy new baggage carts for the safety of passengers.
