Items up for discussion among the 15-plus major Japanese Tour and travel operators include the recently passed CNMI $15 tourism tax, tourist safety, visa and labor issues, air carrier plans and general marketing strategy.
New JMTC President, Mr. Yamada of R&C Tours, proposed for the first time that the meeting be conducted in Japanese and thereafter the club would provide the CNMI government with recommendations on strengthening the tourism industry.
Lt. Gov. Eloy Inos and Marianas Visitor Authority Managing Director Perry John P. Tenorio are expected to attend as CNMI representatives.
JMTC meetings are held quarterly and alternate between Tokyo and Saipan.
