Crystal Sablan gets 2 days for disturbing peace of sibling

She was arrested for child neglect last February, according to court documents.

Superior Court Judge Perry B. Inos sentenced Sablan to six months’ imprisonment, all suspended, with credit for two days served at the CNMI Department of Corrections facility.

Chief Prosecutor Michael Ernest represented the government, while Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as Sablan’s counsel.

She was placed on one year probation, will pay a $250 fine, court costs and a probation fee.

She will complete 50 hours of community work service and will take a parenting class recommended by Community Guidance Center.

She will submit to an alcohol and drug assessment, and complete any treatment recommended.

Sablan will not leave her children in the care and/or supervision of another, unless such person is of suitable age and discretion to oversee others.

Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan said Sablan’s mother called the police and reported the incident on Feb. 8, 2011.

Sablan’s brother saw the defendant inside a car going in reverse outside their driveway.

Sablan has two children, six and two years old.

When her brother checked the children upstairs, he saw that they were sleeping.

Sablan’s oldest son called up her grandmother to ask for his mother.

Sablan had a habit of leaving her children unattended, police was told by the defendant’s family members.
