He said Sword will work for Pacific Energy, a regional oil supplier and petroleum terminal operator in Pape’ete, Tahiti, with regional headquarters in Suva, Fiji..
Sword will become the company’s area manager based in American Samoa.
Sword’s position is required by the federal stipulated orders. He was tasked to inspect the oil and water tanks maintained by CUC. A professional engineer and land surveyor, he had a two-year contract with CUC, which paid him $135,000 a year.
“In the short time Taulapapa has been on board at CUC he and his team were able to satisfy most of the concerns regarding oil management at the power plant in Lower Base and elsewhere,” Malae said. This was a difficult assignment that required the very specific skill set that Sword possesses, he added.
