CUC: Public water system complies with total coliform rule

In his monthly report to Division of Environmental Quality Director Frank Rabauliman, Malae said CUC’s laboratory conducted 76 routines samples and three repeat samples on Saipan during the monitoring period.

“None of the three repeat safety drinking water samples or the two As Lito well samples contained any total coliform,” he added.

On Tinian, Malae reported the completion of the installation of the new dedicated sample taps in December.

There were 17 valid safety drinking water samples collected on Tinian during the December monitoring period, he added.

Because only one valid sample was shown to contain total coliform, the CUC Tinian public water system was in compliance of the total coliform rule, Malae told Rabauliman.

Malae said none of the samples on Rota contained total coliform and the island’s public water system also complied with the total coliform rule.

He said CUC tested 86 wells for nitrates and total coliform io Rota.

According to Malae, CUC laboratory field and staff collected over 100 samples that were analyzed for water quality parameters such as pH, temperature, conductivity, hardness, chlorides, and alkalinity.
