CUC says it will pay PMIC this year

CUC owes more than $1.5 million to Pacific Marine and Industrial Corp. which operates the Power Plant 4.

Antonio S. Muna, CUC’s executive director, said they are now working with the executive and legislative branches to identify the needed financial resources.

CUC, he added, will not  increase power rates to generate funds.

“Whatever we owe to them we will resolve by the end of next month,” Muna said, referring to PMIC which plays a vital role in maintaining a stable power distribution on Saipan.

Power Plant 4 produces 14.7 megawatts.

CUC also has to pay $505,000 a month for Aggreko’s generators.

Muna said CUC “wants to pay PMIC in full and will do the same with other vendors.”
