“During the March 2010 compliance period, one out of a total of 79 samples, or 1.6 percent, were total coliform positive and the Saipan public water system complied with the total coliform rule,” she said.
She said in the last two weeks of March, they collected samples at the 33 active entry points.
On Rota, she said the public water system collected three routine safe drinking water samples on March 16.
“None of the samples contained total coliform,” she said, adding that the Rota public water system complied with the total coliform rule during the monitoring period in March.
On Tinian, Yelin said they collected five routine samples and none contained total coliform.
She said water treatment supervisor Bernard Keremius assisted Tinian CUC staff in collecting samples for the analysis.
In her report, Yelin also informed DEQ that CUC laboratory technician Stuart Grimes resigned effective March 23.
She said a replacement has not yet been selected and they are also waiting for the arrival of a chemist hired in February.
