Bruce Megarr, Commonwealth Utilities Corp. deputy director for water and wastewater, said the project will improve water quantity and quality in Kannat Tabla, Finasisu, Chalan Kiya and Chalan Laulau.
“The quality will be better, the quantity will be better, we will have a larger pipe and we can serve satisfactorily,” he said.
Gov. Bengno R. Fitial, CUC and other government officials will lead the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $1.3 million water tank project at 9 a.m.
Prior to the project’s implementation, the areas that depend on the reservoir were not getting 24-hours regular and stable water supply, Megarr said.
He said the new reservoir now brings in a million gallons of water supply and provides water to several communities on island.
CUC has been working on a new water tank since the NMC reservoir has been decommissioned two years ago, Variety learned.
