“It is only right and fitting that the CNMI set aside a month to celebrate [our] culture and heritage,” Carolinian Affairs Office Executive Assistant Angelica W. Ignoef-Mangarero said.
She said Cultural Heritage Month provides a framework for many different cultural activities of indigenous groups and individuals.
It also celebrates and showcases culture-oriented talents.
During the month-long celebration, one day will be dedicated to honor traditional chiefs.
Mangarero is inviting the public to join and help make this year’s Cultural Heritage Month unforgettable.
On Sept. 26, a Mass and a feast will be offered to Carolinian Chief Aghurubw on Managaha.Free ferry rides to Managaha will be offered to those interested in joining the celebration.
The Commonwealth Cultural Day Festival will be held on Oct. 9-12.
Private and public schools will participate in cultural attire, speech and Utt building competitions.
