Customs compliance supervisor Robert Reyes, in a separate interview, said as of Friday, April 3, the container ships had unloaded 120 containers of cement, other construction materials, vehicles, tires, food, including rice, among other commodities.
Reyes said the vessels’ last ports of entries are Japan, Guam and Singapore.
“Every cargo is screened and assessed to verify whether or not they are in compliance,” he added.
Customs personnel are also screening goods unloaded by cargo flights at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport, he said. “We are still in regular operation because we are not only concerned about the passengers, we also check cargoes.”
