Bridge Capital yesterday said the deadline was extended because one of the judges for the competition will not be available until May 4.
As of yesterday, Bridge Capital LLC had not yet received any artwork for the competition but many local artists had already filled out registration forms.
The annual art competition, which is open to CNMI residents who have been staying here for at least a year, aims to promote and support the talented artists of the commonwealth.
The art competition is divided into two divisions — one for individuals 18 years and older, and the other for K-12 students.
Entries accepted for submission must be the original work of the artist — not computer generated or digitally enhanced, and could be two-dimensional and three-dimensional. Submissions must also have a CNMI theme. A participant can submit a maximum of two entries. A panel of judges composed of government leaders and business community representatives will choose the winning entries.
Prizes at stake for the open competition are $2,500 for the grand prize, $1,500 for the first prize, $1,000 for second prize and $500 for third prize.
The top student entries from kindergarten to 12th grade will receive $100, while the classroom teacher of the winning student will receive $100 in store credits for school supplies at the National Office Supply.
All the artwork submitted for the competition will be showcased and exhibited. Winners will be given their awards and prizes during a presentation which will be attended by the winners and their family members.
Bridge Capital urges all local artists to participate in this competition.
