Deleon Guerrero, in an interview yesterday, said he had expressed his intention to resign from the board a few months ago.
He said that before he declared his intention to team up with Babauta last month, he had already told the other members of the board that he was willing to vacate his post.
However, he said his colleagues wanted him to stay until his candidacy is certified which will happen once he and Babauta win the GOP primary against Rep. Heinz S. Hofschneider and his running mate, Speaker Arnold I. Palacios.
Deleon Guerrero said he and Babauta will make education a priority.
During the announcement of the Juan-Galvin team up last month, Deleon Guerrero said he was facing many options before he decided to accept Babauta’s offer to be his running mate.
A lot of people now, he said, are talking about change.
“We need to learn to balance the need for change,” he said.
The energy of youth should be balanced with wisdom of experience, he added.
Deleon Guerrero, who topped the BOE election on Saipan in 2007, resigned as principal of Mt. Carmel School last month.
