DPL grants school permission to look after lighthouse

The school has been tasked with the “upkeep and aesthetic enhancement” of the lighthouse for one year.

The school’s request was submitted last year by one of its teachers, Rebekah Yost.

She said their project is currently in the planning stage.  Sixth- to eighth-grade students will be involved in the initial preparation.

“The kids are helping me organize the event as far as the painting and the mural projects are concerned,” she added.

Beautify CNMI will also be involved in the project.

“I am a member of its graffiti abatement committee,” she said. “I thought of the opportunity to join forces with the group so I presented the idea to the committee. They are supporting me as far as getting materials and volunteering as well as helping me organize the project.”
