However, DPL Secretary Oscar M. Babauta said the area has been classified by the Zoning Board as an “industrial site.”
“He has to check with Zoning first,” Babauta said, referring to Mayor Donald G. Flores.
Babauta said it is the mayor’s responsibility to get permits from the regulatory agencies before he can actually and physical use the facility.
The mayor was interested in another property but DPL’s technical people disagreed because of the absence of a sewer system in the area. Babauta said.
Variety learned that the mayor has been struggling to get support from the governor’s office for municipal programs like funding for Liberation Day, the animal shelter and the staffing of the mayor’s office.
Flores is a Republican and not a member of the ruling Covenant Party.
