DPS has 30 new federally funded vehicles

These vehicles were paid for by federal grants under the US Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, while the remaining vehicles were funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as replacement of vehicles destroyed from Super Typhoon Yutu. These vehicles are fully equipped with the standard police package straight from the dealership.

“I want to congratulate the commissioner, the administrative staff, and all our police officers for always protecting our community, and their families for allowing them to serve. These new federally funded vehicles are the product of diligent planning and hard work by our DPS administrative and federal grants staff and our Public Assistance Office. Lt. Governor Palacios and I have been working with Commissioner Guerrero and his team on the documentation for our federal partners, and we are now pleased to see the hard work pay off. These vehicles will be distributed among the three islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to manage traffic control and to improve patrolling in our villages to keep residents safe,” said Governor Ralph DLG. Torres.

“Having more reliable vehicles on the island’s roadways will better aid our fellow officers respond to calls late in the night, in the middle of a storm, in the early morning hours, and allow us to better keep you safe,” said Commissioner of Public Safety Robert A. Guerrero.
