Asked to elaborate, DPS spokesman Dre Pangelinan said on Thursday: “I cannot confirm the exact time or date, but I can confirm that a complaint was filed.”
“The department is looking into the matter,” he said, “but in regard to the status of the case I cannot comment further as the investigation is ongoing.”
He added, “I’m only able to disclose that a complaint was filed but unable to comment on the nature [of the complaint] at this time.”
Also on Thursday, Variety learned from the Attorney General’s Office that there was no pending criminal case against Propst.
Asked for comment, Propst said he has conferred with his attorney, adding that he will not comment or make a statement unless there is a specific complaint against him.
“No comment, as I do not know what the complaint is about,” he said.
Last week, a private citizen, Irene Holl, urged the House of Representatives to look into “longstanding and very serious allegations of sexual misconduct against [Propst] while he was a teacher at Marianas High School and also at Northern Marianas College.”
Propst, for his part, said he was deeply saddened that he and his family were being subjected to “this egregious level of defamation and dirty politics.”
