THE Department of Public Works is soliciting bids for the improvement of the road and drainage system along Route 205 on Tinian.
The project package for interested contractors will be available this Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at https://dpw.gov.mp/highway-office/announcement/.
On Friday, DPW Secretary Ray N. Yumul requested the Division of Procurement Services to approve the expenditure for advertising the invitation to bid.
In an interview, Yumul said DPW’s Federal Highway Division, along with Tinian’s leaders, set a goal to pave both Route 206 and Route 205. Route 206 leads to Carolina Heights Homestead Village in the eastern part of Tinian, while Route 205 intersects Route 206 near the former Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.
Yumul said the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation, using federal Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery funds, oversaw the Route 206 road and drainage improvement project, leaving DPW responsible for completing only the Route 205 project.
