Drowning at Managaha

At approximately 12:31 p.m., the vessel transporting the victim arrived at the dock side. Boating Safety noticed that two lifeguards were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the victim. At the dock, medics immediately took over CPR from the lifeguards and transported the oriental male to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Doctors and nurses tried to revive the victim. At approximately12:50 p.m., the victim was pronounced dead by Dr. Devey.

Preliminary investigation revealed that swimmers in the area flagged the attention of the lifeguard on duty to check on a swimmer. The lifeguard noticed the victim was face-down in the water and immediately rushed towards the victim. The lifeguard brought the victim onto the shore and began to perform CPR as others called 911. CPR was performed by the lifeguards from Managaha to Smiling Cove Marina until medics took over.
