Drunk man arrested for disturbing the peace

While inside the police car, the defendant, Joseph Jones Villagomez, 36, kicked the vehicle’s door and glass window, police said.

Villagomez was drunk, police added.

After he was turned over to the Department of Corrections, Villagomez punched three times the cell’s glass window where he was incarcerated, police said.

When Corrections personnel told him to stop, Villagomez also hit the intercom on the center of the glass window causing the glass to crack around the intercom, police said.

According to Detective Patrick P. Sablan Villagomez has a history of resisting arrest and has damaged windows of police cars in the past.

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo imposed a $3,000 bail on Villagomez who was later remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Assistant Public Defender Matthew Holley filed a motion for bail modification, and Villagomez’s common-law wife was suggested to be his third-party custodian.

The defense also suggested the posting of $300 as 10 percent of the bail.

Assistant Attorney General George Hasselback is prosecuting the case.
