Taiwan’s corruption agency, Control Yuan, said it will charge former National Security Council Secretary-General Chiou I-jen and former Foreign Minister Huang Chi-fang over the 2006 scandal.
The agency said it will impeach both men for dereliction of duty in a $30 million bid to build secret diplomatic ties with PNG.
A number of PNG politicians and officials flew to Taiwan and met with the two men, but have since denied that the talks were over a diplomatic switch from China to Taiwan in exchange for cash.
Both men have denied the allegations.
