Federal court provides receiver key to IPI liquor vault

THE District Court for the NMI on Tuesday granted the motion of former Imperial Pacific International employee Joshua Gray to provide court-appointed limited receiver Clear Management Ltd. the key to IPI’s liquor vault.

In her Oct. 31, 2023, order, Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona said Clear Management needs the key in order to carry out its duties under the court order that lists the items the receiver will liquidate.

Earlier this month, the court appointed Clear Management as limited receiver for the sale of IPI’s personal properties.

The court also granted Gray’s request and application for a writ of execution on IPI’s personal properties after prevailing in his discrimination lawsuit against the casino investor. The IPI’s former director of operations was awarded by the federal court a total of $5,686,182.20 in compensatory and punitive damages.

Earlier on Tuesday, Gray, through attorneys Bruce Berline and Aaron Halegua, filed a motion to obtain the key to IPI’s liquor vault located in the basement of the casino in Garapan.

Gray’s attorneys stated that as part of the process, the court ordered Clear Management to make an inventory list of items that the receiver will liquidate.

However, they said there is a lock outside of the liquor vault, and the court is in possession of the key to the lock.

Berline and Halegua asked the court to allow Clear Management to retrieve the key and keep it until the liquidation of IPI’s liquor is complete.
