On Nov. 26, 2010, Francisco Reyes Santos informed the Federal Probation Office that he had been arrested for choking his wife.
He was released from the Department of Corrections facility the following day, court records showed.
The CNMI Attorney General’s Office said the case has not been forwarded for prosecution, while a detective said the case is “still under investigation,” according to U.S. Probation Office.
The wife told police that Santos choked her on Nov. 25, 2010.
Santos denied his wife’s allegations.
Santos said his wife scratched him when they started arguing.
He said he pushed her away from him because she was yelling at him.
The incident occurred on a street in Garapan.
According to the U.S. Probation Office, Santos failed to submit timely monthly supervision reports and failed to inform the office about his change in residence.
Santos has otherwise been fully compliant with his conditions of release, the probation office said.
Santos has completed his community service, attended all drug counseling meetings, urinalysis appointments, and since the Nov. 2010 report, has submitted reports in a timely manner, the probation office said.
Santos consistently tested negative for illicit substances, it added.
In Aug. 2000, then-Chief Judge Alex R. Munson sentenced Santos to a 63-month jail term followed by three years of supervised release for attempted interference with commerce by robbery.
On May 30, 2008, Santos was ordered to serve a 21-month jail term followed by 15 months supervised release for his involvement in a burglary case.
