“The money will be available for rehabilitation of the runway at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport,” said Sablan. “This is another example of how stimulus funds can create jobs now and at the same time help us build the base for a healthy economy in the future.”
The funds are being awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama last month.
