Feds to distribute firearm safety kits today

The second schedule for distribution of the safety kits will be on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Price Costco in San Jose from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The safety kits, provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office will be distributed through a partnership with Project ChildSafe, the nationwide firearms safety education program.

A total of 1,000 gunlocks is allocated for the CNMI. 500 will be for Saipan, 200 for distribution on Tinian on Friday, Jan. 15, at the Tinian Police Station from 2 to 5 p.m., and 300 will be distributed on Rota at a date to be announced later.

One free gunlock will be given to any adult but if an individual would like more than one gunlock, he or she would have to show documentation for each gun before he or she will be given additional gunlocks.

The distribution will be on a first come, first served basis.
