In cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General Office, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office is offering the “Communicating in the Workplace” course intended for elementary and high school-level overseas Filipino workers.
Welfare office Leonor Mabagal said this is the first time they will offer the free course this year and they hope to continue it in the following years.
They are also offering a regular basic English language development course.
Haidee V. Eugenio of the Loyola University has volunteered to teach the course, Mabagal said.
The program was conceptualized when the Philippine Overseas Labor Office learned that some Filipino workers missed the chance of being promoted because of the “language barrier,” Mabagal said.
Mabagal invited Filipino workers who have not taken any English course conducted by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office to enroll.
The “Communicating in the Workplace” class will start on July 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Filipino Workers Resource Center, Marianas Business Center, formerly known as the Nauru Building.
There will be four sessions and the class will be held on Saturdays.
The registration of applicants is ongoing and admission will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
