Fitial renominates Inos as judge

“I am confident that Mr. Inos is well qualified and will be a valued asset to the commonwealth judiciary,” wrote  Gov. Benigno R. Fitial to Senate President Pete P. Reyes, R-Saipan.

If confirmed, Inos will serve a six-year term.

Inos was first nominated to the post in June.

The Senate, however, did not act on the nomination prompting the governor to withdraw it to avoid a technical rule that will prohibit him from renominating Inos after a certain period of time.

Inos, who will be 42 on Sept. 26, is the son of Rota Mayor Joseph S. Inos, the governor’s party mate.

Senators earlier said the government might not have enough money to fund the budget for a new judge.

In a separate communication to the Legislature, the governor certified that the executive director’s position of the Board of Professional Licensing is vacant.

He asked the Legislature to allow the filling of the post, saying that continuing appropriations are available to pay the salary of the vacant post.
