He told the students that education never stops and that it is important in finding one’s place in society.
“Education is the main ingredient to fitting in with your friends, neighbors, strangers, a new school, and when you grow older and find yourself that you need to work to earn a living, you will see that education is the right ingredient to getting the job you want to have,” he added.
He emphasized the importance of learning, saying “it prepares humankind to live together in peace, to learn to accept each other, to learn how to help each other, to learn how to defend each other, to learn how to educate others, to learn how to make sure that mankind service.”
He said that learning allows humankind to be better.
“I want you to continue to be kind and honest, to continue working hard in your studies and above all, respect your teachers, classmates, parents and others,” he added.
Flores cited as an example President Obama who persevered until he became the 44th chief executive of the nation.
“Remember, as learners, you and I always challenge ourselves to do better,” the mayor said.
“Because I am asking you to become a better person, I want to tell you that there are rewards in the world for being just that. I want to tell you about myself, how I became the mayor of Saipan. I worked hard. I shared my plans with others. I wanted to make their lives better. Because I worked hard,
I am now the Mayor in charge of helping other.”
