Former Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero smiles during the sine die session of the 23rd Senate on Jan. 3, 2025.
FORMER Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero is among those applying for the executive director’s job at the Commonwealth Ports Authority.
The CNMI’s first female Senate president, Deleon Guerrero unsuccessfully sought a second term in the Nov. 2024 midterm election.
The selection of an executive director was included on the agenda of the CPA board of directors’ monthly meeting on Wednesday. However, the CPA’s personnel committee chaired by Joseph Diaz deferred action on the short list of applicants for the executive director’s position.
The committee will meet again next week to further discuss the matter.
The executive director’s post has been vacant since Leo Tudela resigned in Nov. 2024, with Frederick A. Pangelinan serving as the acting executive director.
In an interview, Deleon Guerrero said, “I saw the open competition and decided to put in my application. It was posted on their website, and I saw it in the local paper as well.”
Deleon Guerrero said she will be respectful of whatever is decided by the committee and the CPA board.
