Friends of the Arts to stage Neil Simon play this weekend

Line producer Dr. Susan Fishman Tudor said “Plaza Suite” will be the fourth show of the Friends of the Arts this year.

“This is a very well received show with 1,097 Broadway performances, and we are inviting the community to come and enjoy a very funny show, featuring several of your friends and acquaintances,” Tudor said.

“Plaza Suite,” originally starring George C. Scott and Maureen Stapleton, won the Tony Award for Best Direction and was nominated for Best Play and Best Performance for a Leading Actress in a Play.

The play has three acts, each involving different characters.

Act I, “Visitor From Mamaroneck,” characters will be played by Lynn Corella, Laila Boyer, Cody Race, Andrew Golden and Frank Gibson.

Act II, “Visitor from Hollywood,” involves a meeting between movie producer Jesse Kiplinger, to be played by Paul Dujua, and his old flame, suburban housewife Muriel Tate, to be played by Aiza Mendoza.

Act III, “Visitor from Forest Hills,” characters will be played by Helen Ann Bucher, Dave Bucher, Laura Kyonka, Josiah Kyonka and Andrew Golden.

“Plaza Suite” is set in Suite 719 of New York City’s Plaza Hotel.

All shows on April 30, May 1 and 2 will start at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6:45p.m.

The play is directed by Harold Easton.

Tickets will be $12 for adult members, $10 for students and $15 for adult non-FOA members.
