Mobil Oil Marianas in Chalan Kiya displays its new fuel prices on Saturday.
MOBIL Oil Marianas and Shell Marianas on Friday reduced their fuel prices by 10 cents. It was the second fuel price rollback since last month.
The price per gallon of regular gas went down to $5.269; premium gas to $5.719 a gallon; and diesel to $5.439 a gallon.
Tinian Fuel Services and Calvo Enterprises on Rota reduced their fuel prices on Saturday because their new supplies of fuel arrived on Friday, according to gas station attendants on Rota and Tinian.
On Tinian, the regular gas price went down to $7.48 a gallon while the diesel price was reduced to $7.85 a gallon.
On Rota, the regular gas price dropped to $6.64 a gallon while the diesel price went down to $9.97 a gallon.
Fish vendor Luz Corpuz said fuel prices affect the livelihood of fishermen as well as the price of their catch. “But fish vendors like us, we cannot just increase prices [in case of a fuel price hike] because customers will not come,” Corpuz said. So any rollback in the price of fuel is good news for fish vendors, she added.
According to OILPRICE.com, crude oil prices hit year-to-date lows on Wednesday, with Brent at $72.63 and West Texas Intermediate at $69.19, driven by weak demand in China and other markets.
“OPEC+ delayed plans to ease production cuts, but analysts see challenges due to lost market share and declining prices.
“Commodity analysts highlight trend-following strategies and potential for a short-covering rally in oil, while the return of Libyan oil adds further downward pressure on prices.”
