Fund still looking for litigation lawyers

As it failed to generate interest when it issued an emergency request for proposals on Oct. 28, the Fund put out another RFP on Dec. 7 but this time, it stated that its closing date is “until filled.”

During the meeting last week, the board was made aware that there had been no responses so far to the latest RFP.

With no additional attorneys in sight, the current lawyers of the Fund are “overloaded.”

As early as October, the Fund already sounded the alarm on the effects of P.L. 17-51 to its operation.

Fund Administrator Richard Villagomez previously said: “As a result of 17-51 service providers including board counsels have indicated they were terminating their services and they were winding down whatever is in court now.”

Based on the latest RFP, the Fund is offering at the minimum $50,000 salary to potential candidates, among other benefits, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Interested parties are advised to contact the Fund for RFP packet via email [email protected].
